Wild celebrations by the AIADMK workers, visible relief on the faces of government officials, ostensible respite from uncertainty for the public, and gloomy visages of the DMK local leaders marked the minutes after the Karnataka High Court released the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa from the disproportionate assets case on Monday.
Tension gave way to exhilaration among the assembled AIADMK workers with Mayor Savitri Gopal and District Panchayat Chairperson Amudharani Ravichandran leading the show in the absence of prominent men party leaders in Thanjavur as the news of Ms. Jayalalithaa’s release spread like wild fire.
Women and even many men could not hold back their tears of joy.

“I don’t mind seen with tears welling up in my eyes. Justice has been done to her and I hope the State would get back to normality soon,” hoped a beaming party workers S. Narayanan even as his colleagues indulged in unbridled celebrations around him near Railway Junction here.
As usual workers burst fire crackers and distributed sweets among the public to give vent to their feelings.
In Kumbakonam and Pattukkottai too the party men went round the towns claiming that justice had been done to Ms. Jayalalithaa.

Similar was the case in Tiruvarur district as party men gathered in important towns such as Tiruvarur, Mannargudi (the native place of Sasikala, her niece Ilavarasi and nephew Sudhakaran, all co-accused), Nidamangalam, Tiruthuraipoondi, Nannilam, and Muthupettai and broke into celebrations.
“The numerous prayers by lakhs of people over the past six months for her release and justice to her cause in temples, mosques, and churches have been answered through Justice Kumaraswamy’s judgment. We knew that she would come out unscathed. Now the State would be placed again on the path of development,” said T. Muthulakshmi at Tiruvarur, a party activist, reflecting the pent up feelings of the AIADMK workers in the region.
KARUR: The ruling party workers thronged the bus stand and burst crackers in Karur.
They took out a rally from bus stand roundabout to Jawahar Bazaar. They distributed sweets among passersby, shoppers, and shopkeepers.
Dancing to the tunes of music troupes, they went around the town on two-wheelers by carrying big flags of AIADMK.
Many of them climbed onto the top of the buses and danced.
There were reports that the AIADMK workers carried out “victory marches” at Thanthoni Malai, Tolgate, Uazhavar Sandhai, Kulithalai, Aravakurichi, and Pallapatti.
