AIADMK fields new faces in all eight constituencies

April 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Tiruvannamalai:

No woman candidate has been fielded in Tiruvannamalai district

AIADMK candidate for Tiruvannamalai constituency Perumal Nagar K.Rajan

All the eight persons chosen by AIADMK to contest in the eight Assembly constituencies in Tiruvannamalai district are freshers.

None of the five sitting MLAs of the party from this district, including Information Technology Minister Mukkur N.Subramanian and former Minister Agri S.S.Krishnamurthi, have been fielded again. Last time, the AIADMK contested in six constituencies and allotted two seats for its ally DMDK. Another conspicuous feature about the list this time is that no woman candidate is fielded in Tiruvannamalai district. In the present Assembly, there is a woman MLA, L.Jayasudha, from Polur. Veterans are disappointed by their exclusion from the list. The party’s south district secretary Perumal Nagar K.Rajan has been chosen to contest from the prestigious Tiruvannamalai constituency. He may face DMK’s heavy weight E.V.Velu.

Former district secretary Dusi K.Mohan will contest from Mukkur Subramanian’s Cheyyar constituency, V.Panneerselvam, district deputy secretary of MGR Mandram from Kalasapakkam, the constituency presently represented by ‘Agri’ S.S.Krishnamurthi.

V.Meganathan, an accountant in Annai Sathya Tailoring Cooperative Society, has been fielded in the Vandavasi (reserved) constituency. M.Dinakaran, an advocate and party’s district treasurer, will contest from Chengam (reserved) constituency.
