: A zonal sports and talent competition among police recruit schools (PRS) is under way in the district. As many as 281 participants from police recruit schools in the zone are taking part in the competition that was inaugurated on Saturday.
The participants are from Vellore and Salem, and temporary PRS at Vellore, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Pochampalli. On Saturday, track events were held.
Athletic events such as 100 metres, long jump and shot put were being held as part of the competition, besides volleyball. A quiz contest for the police recruits was held on the talent front.

There would be a parade competition and prize distribution ceremony on Sunday.
