Two textile unit owners move court for bail

The two owners of a textile unit at Periyandipalayam, who have been listed as accused by Tirupur North police on charges of assaulting a worker of another unit at Odakkadu, have moved for anticipatory bail.

The bail would come up for hearing in Madras High Court next week, sources here told The Hindu .

According to the First Information Report, the two owners beat Kannan for migrating from their unit to the Odakkadu.

Video footage

The video footage, which reportedly shows the two unit owners assaulting Kannan, went viral in the social media that prompted the police to take up the case. Meanwhile, trade unions have slammed the police for not arresting the accused. “They are lethargic in the investigation”, said CITU state secretary M. Chandran.
