Three killed and three injured in road accident near Madurantakam

Three persons were killed and three others sustained injuries in a road accident involving a car and an autorickshaw near Madurantakam on Saturday night.

According to police, the mishap took place around 11.30 p.m. on July 17 on the Grand Southern Trunk Road at Iyyanarkoil Junction near Madurantakam when the autorickshaw driver, Saravanan of Madurantakam, took a right turn to enter Thandalam Road and collided with a car proceeding towards Chennai from Tindivanam.

In the impact, Siluvaimuthu, Antony and Nagaraj, travelling in the autorickshaw died on the spot and three others, Murugan, Ranganathan and Paramasivam sustained injuries.

While Saravanan sustained minor injuries, the car driver, Anbumani of Sirkazhi escaped unhurt.

The injured persons were admitted in the Government Hospital, Madurantakam, police said.
