Temple puts up board on dress code

The management has pointed out that dresses, apart from those prescribed, are strictly prohibited.

Starting this New Year, devotees and visitors to the Sri Jalakanteswarar Temple inside the Vellore Fort, will have to conform to a prescribed dress code.

Keeping in line with the recent direction of the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, the Sri Jalakanteswarar Temple put up a board on Wednesday informing devotees and visitors on the dress code for men and women as prescribed by the court.

The dress code will come into effect from January 1, 2016. The devotees and visitors have been asked to follow the prescribed dress code to enter the temple. It will be pant, shirt, pyjama and dhoti for men, while it will be saree, half saree, churidhar with fully cover upper cloth for women.

The management has pointed out that dresses, apart from those prescribed, are strictly prohibited. Those who do not follow this prescribed dress code will not be allowed inside the temple.
