Tasmac employee dies as miscreants hurl petrol bomb

The anti-liquor protest took an ugly turn as T. Selvam (40), a salesman at Tasmac outlet No 7247 in Pudupalayam in Attur, died of suffocation after miscreants hurled petrol bomb at the shop in the early hours on Wednesday.

Sources said Selvam of Nagalur in Gangavalli was sleeping inside the shop on Tuesday night on instructions from the police. At around 12.45 a.m. miscreants opened the shutter and threw the bomb. Selvam who was fast asleep woke up and informed his colleague over phone. They rushed to the shop and rescued him. However, Selvam died of suffocation while on the way to a private hospital in Attur.

Later, the body was taken to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital. Superintendent of Police G. Subbulakshmi inspected the shop and held inquiries.
