Tamil Nadu Govt announces Pongal bonus for employees

The State government on Saturday announced bonus for its employees on the occasion of Pongal festival, costing the exchequer about Rs 272 crore.

An official release stated that employees of Groups C and D would take home a bonus of Rs 3,000 while staff of the Groups A and B would be paid Rs 1,000. Recipients of pension and family pension would be given Rs. 500 each.

Other categories of employees including Anganwadi workers, village assistants and those employees of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department who were on the special time scale of pay would be paid Rs. 1,000 each.
