Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy today urged the Election Commission to provide police protection to all 10 party candidates for the April 13 assembly polls after one of them complained of frequently receiving threat calls.

The Janata Party has fielded 10 candidates for the polls.

In a statement here, he said he would also file a petition in the Madras High Court, demanding posting of CRPF and BSF in Tamil Nadu under the Disturbed Areas Act if the Director General of Police does not act to curb this ‘anti-national activity’ of threatening his party candidates.

Dr. Swamy had stated yesterday at Madurai that Madurai South party candidate Shantaram had complained to him and State unit President V S Chandralekha about receiving the calls on his cellphone.

Dr. Swamy had also said that the Police should trace the calls received by his candidate.
