Stalin to inaugurate 100 houses in Namakkal district

Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate 100 houses constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.5 crore at the Periyar memorial samathuvapuram at Pilipakuttai village in Namagiripettai Panchayat Union on Tuesday.

Collector S. Madumathi said that Mr. Stalin would take part in various programmes in the district and distribute assistance to the tune of Rs. 124.77 crore to beneficiaries under various schemes.

After inaugurating the sixth samathuvapuram in the district, the Deputy Chief Minister would hand over keys of houses constructed under the Kalaignar Housing Scheme to 1,009 beneficiaries and inaugurate 198 houses worth Rs. 5.5 crore constructed through the Slum Clearance Board. Mr. Stalin would also inaugurate water supply projects worth Rs. 15.82 crore at Namakkal, Rasipuram and Tiruchengode municipalities, 116 water schemes implemented through the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board and other projects such as 63 libraries, 67 ground water tanks, 143 concrete roads and 167 water schemes under the Anna Marumalarchi Scheme.

He would also lay the foundation stone for the construction of hostels for Adi Dravida students.

The Deputy Chief Minister would also take part in a programme organised by highway workers at Paramathi Velur and address a public meeting.

Namakkal Superintendent of Police A. Pari said that extensive security arrangements have been made at the Traveller's bungalow and along the route in which Mr. Stalin would travel and also at the venues of the programmes.

Heavy police strength from Namakkal and nearby districts such as Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Erode has been deployed for the purpose, he said. Inspector General of Police (West Zone) P. Sivanandi and DIG of Salem Range G. Venkataraman reviewed the security arrangements.
