Sewage outside Nagercoil junction poses health risk

Updated - September 22, 2016 09:34 pm IST - NAGERCOIL:

Drainage water from Nagercoil Railway Junction main building flowing on the service road, emanating foul smell and polluting the environment.

Drainage water from the main building of the Nagercoil Railway Junction, flowing like a stream on the service road for over three months, is posing serious health hazard to passersby. The waste water flowing on the road is allegedly due to the block in the main sewage line passing under the service road, a person manning the bike parking said.

Passengers crossing the stream of sewage water were facing severe hardship owing to the stench emanating from it. Children and even adults could be seen falling down while trying to cross the sewage stream.

When contacted, the station manager said that he would look into the issue, as he has joined duty in Nagercoil Junction only two days ago.
