An Andhra Pradesh-based engineering college student, who was taking selfie with his mobile phone standing on the edge of a 2,000-foot-deep gorge at Vilpatti village on upper Kodaikanal hill, had a fatal fall on Thursday.
The deceased was C. Sandeep (22) of Arvind Nagar in Ananthapur district in Andhra Pradesh.
Police said six engineering students came to Kodaikanal on a holiday tour. Sandeep’s friends told the police that he fell into the gorge while taking selfie.

Acting on information, the police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot. Efforts to retrieve the body is still on.
Police have registered a case.
