Ration shops inspected

The process of capturing the details of family cardholders in Point of Sale (PoS) machines in Virudhunagar district is nearing completion. Of the 5, 66, 000 family cards, details of 5, 56, 000 cards have been captured in PoS machines so far.

The Principal Secretary, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, S. Gopalakrishnan, who inspected the process of feeding Aadhaar card and mobile phone details into PoS machines in fair price shops at Thonukaal, Kalkurichi and Chathira Reddiyapatti in the district on Friday, said that the e-enabled PoS would ensure transparency in the functioning of public distribution system. It would also facilitate paperless governance.

Later, Mr. Gopalakrishnan chaired a meeting to review the PoS work at Collectorate.
