Queen Mary University to offer Ph.D. fee waiver to students from VIT

Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is to offer fee waivers to pursue Ph.D. to students and staff from VIT University, starting from the academic year 2017-18

Under an agreement signed in Vellore, QMUL would offer three full PhD waivers per year to qualified students and staff from VIT University who apply for a PhD degree at QMUL’s Faculty of Science and Engineering, according to a release from VIT.

Successful candidates will cover their living expenses either through self-funding, or funding from VIT University, in line with cost of living guidelines set out by the UK Visas and Immigration.

The fee waivers are offered across the schools at QMUL’s Faculty of Science and Engineering, including School of Engineering and Materials Science, School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, School of Mathematical Sciences, School of Physics and Astronomy and the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences.

The agreement came as part of a senior level QMUL visit to India. Professor David Sadler, QMUL Vice Principal (International) who led the visit. Professor V. Raju, Pro Vice Chancellor of VIT University Vellore has been quoted in the release as saying “The current agreement will further enhance the ongoing collaborative activities. Currently, we have provisions for VIT students to undertake the first two years of the study for the bachelors in engineering at VIT and transfer to QMUL to complete the requirements for the QMUL degrees. Similarly, VIT’s masters students can opt for the second year of study at QMUL and complete the requirements for two masters degrees simultaneously.”
