Popularity of ‘Samathuva Pongal' celebrations gives hope that Thanthai Periyar's vision of creating casteless society could very well turn into reality, according to Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

Participating in ‘Samathuva Pongal' celebrations held at Mevalurkuppam near Sriperumpudur on Friday, Mr. Stalin said people's response to the State government's call to celebrate ‘Samathuva Pongal,' was encouraging ever since it was introduced by the present government.

It only reflects the intention of people to live together shedding caste and other factors that hitherto kept them divided.

The festivities have provided a good platform for all people, irrespective of their caste and creed, to get united as proud Tamilians, he said.

Labour Welfare Minister T.M. Anbarasan, Collector Ashish Chatterjee and others participated.
