The district-level photography competition for school and college students organised by the Tamil Nadu Science Forum at the Panchayat Union Middle School, Kannantheri village, on Friday, evoked encouraging response.
Students from more than 25 schools across the district and many colleges participated in the event organised in connection with the World Photography Day celebration.
While the theme for school students was ‘The lake in your village’, for college students the theme was ‘The Salem I love’.
M. Mayuri of Thangam Mount Litera Zee School won the prize in the school students’ category, followed by K. S. Abishek of Holy Cross Matriculation School. The third place went to G. Rahul of Panchayat Union Middle School, and the fourth place to N. Thenmozhi of Taramangalam Panchayat Union Middle School.
R. Kavibharathi, a journalism student from Periyar University, won the competition for college students.
R. Rajangam of Panchayat Union Middle School, Thalavaipatti, emerged winner in the contest held in open category.
The highlight of the celebration was the exhibition of photographs submitted by contestants and a large number of students visited the same.
