Official inspects arrangements at banks

Dharmendra, Secretary to the Union Ministry for Urban Development, on Wednesday arrived at Karaikal and inspected the arrangements being made by banks for exchanging high value denominations and ensuring payment to customers. The visit was to evaluate the impact of demonetisation of high value currency notes in the denomination of Rs.500 and Rs.1,000.

Accompanied by Mangalette Dinesh, Additional Collector, he visited branches of a few banks in the town. At a branch of Canara Bank, he verified the use of ink for regulating the transactions by customers.

Later, he addressed banking officials at a meeting. P. Parthiban, Collector, V.J. Chandran, Senior Superintendent of Police, and other officials were present.
