There is no need to wait in long queues at employment exchanges anymore. Now, anyone can register online with the employment exchange at www.tnvelaivaaippu.gov.in directly without approaching the employment offices.
Apart from fresh registration, the candidates can renew their registration and add additional qualifications online.
This will cut down the transportation cost and other expenses incurred by the candidates for visiting the offices.

The website has details of about 65 lakh persons registered with the employment exchanges. The registrants can verify their profiles by visiting the website and bring to the notice of employment offices concerned any discrepancies about their registration details and modify them by showing original supporting documents.
The website was the result of the integration of all employment offices in the State through networking at the cost of Rs.5.02 crore for providing a transparent, speedy and flawless service. The task was entrusted to Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), which in turn mandated M/s Emergyees Private Limited to develop new software for the project named eMPOWER. Once the second phase of the project gets completed in January 2011, all potential employers from private and public sectors would be able to access online the profiles of the candidates registered with the Department of Employment and Training. Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the website-cum-portal at a function in the Secretariat. Minister for Labour Welfare T.M. Anbarasan presided. T. Prabhakar Rao, Principal Secretary, Labour; Hans Raj Verma, Commissioner, Labour; P.W.C. Davidar, Principal Secretary, IT and K. Santhosh Babu, Managing Director, ELCOT were present.
