With the inflow increasing from 10,148 cubic feet per second (cusecs) on Saturday to 13,435 cusecs on Sunday morning, the water level at Stanley Reservoir in Mettur Dam stood at 50.78 feet as against the full reservoir level (FRL) of 120 feet here.

Public Works Department officials said that water was released from Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam and Kabini Reservoir in Karnataka to the State on July 13 that started reaching Mettur on Friday.

They added that rain in catchment areas around Mettur also contributed for the increase in water level.
On Sunday morning, the storage stood at 18.307 thousand million cubic feet (tmc ft) against the dam’s capacity of 93.470 tmc ft, while the outflow is 2,000 cusecs for drinking water purpose.
Officials are hopeful that with Karnataka receiving good rainfall and water level in dams there increasing significantly, the State could receive more water in the coming days.
