Meet discusses arrangements for army recruitment camp

Anticipating large turn out from 14 districts, and Karaikal and Union Territory of Puducherry for the army recruitment camp to be held here from August 2 to 10, Collector S. Natarajan discussed with senior officials, the preparatory works and precautionary steps to be taken to ensure smooth conduct of camp.

Chairing the meeting at the Collectorate here on Thursday with Superintendent of Police N. Manivannan, District Revenue Officer (DRO) M. Ali Akbar, Army Officer Col. Abraham, the Collector underlined the need for a coordinated effort to ensure that the camp to be held at Seethakathi Sethupathy stadium was conducted in a peaceful and incident-free manner.

He said a large turnout was expected as the camp would cover youths from Perambalur, Ariyalur, Tiruchi, Karur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Karaikal and Union Territory of Puducherry.

The Collector urged the police department to coordinate with the army officials in regulating the crowd and providing security.

He instructed the TANGEDCO officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply on all days and other departments to provide sanitary and other basic facilities.

The Collector also insisted that a medical team should be stationed permanently at the stadium with facilities to provide round-the-clock medical assistance. An ambulance should be kept in a state of readiness, he also said.

Assistant Superintendent of Police S. Sarvesh Raj, Ex-servicemen Welfare Officer Commander Vijayakumar, Collector’s Personal Assistant Kamatchi Ganesan and Public Works Department Executive Engineer Kuruthivel Maran were among others present in the meeting.
