Medicos present 66 research papers at CMC’s ‘Cognitio’

A total of 122 teams competed in the medi-quiz Epidauria

“Cognitio 2016”, a two-day symposium organised by the Students Association of Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore saw as many as 66 research papers being presented. A total of 270 students from medical colleges across the country attended the symposium.

Promoting research

The event was being conducted since 2013 with an aim of promoting undergraduate research in medical colleges in the country and to provide a platform for medical students to present their work, a press release said. Held on July 14 and 15, “Cognitio” included research-based workshops for medical students. This included methodology and types of study designs, literature review and ethics involved in medical research.

A total of 122 teams took part in the medi-quiz – Epidauria – held at the junior and senior levels.

While AIIMS, Delhi, emerged as winners in the junior quiz, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences won the senior quiz.

Prizes presented

In the research paper presentations, CMC, Vellore, bagged the prize for the best oral presentation, while AIIMS, Bhopal, won the prize for the best poster presentation.

CMC’s director Sunil Chandy and Principal Alfred Job Daniel were present during the inaugural programme, while secretary of Department of Biotechnology Vijay Raghavan addressed the students on the second day of the symposium, the release said.
