All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa on Tuesday alleged that the team of 10 MPs now on a tour in Sri Lanka was elected from the parties that were propping up the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government to give the impression that it was a Parliamentary delegation.

In a statement here, Ms. Jayalalithaa said Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa might also be a victim of this subterfuge and would be rolling out the red carpet to 10 politicians from Tamil Nadu under the mistaken impression that they are official delegates of the Centre.

“The outcome of the visit of the 10 politicians from Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka can well be conjectured. They will be taken on a guided tour of specific Tamil areas and will get to interact with select Tamil Parliamentarians and ministers who are lackeys of the Sinhala-dominated Rajapaksa government,” she said.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said that on its return, this “bogus delegation” would report to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and make a candid admission that there are some shortcomings, but that this was to be expected when handling a problem of such massive proportions.

In a separate statement, she said the general council and executive council meeting of the party would be held on October 28, at Vanagaram, on the outskirts of Chennai.
