Lawyers to stay away from courts today

Advocates concerned over increasing attacks on their fraternity

In a show of concern over the increasing attacks on them , more than 70,000 lawyers in subordinate and district courts in the State will boycott the court proceedings on May 3 (Monday).

The president of the Federation of District and Subordinate Courts Bar Associations of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, P. Paramasivam, said that two advocates were murdered recently in Chennai.

The Federation also requested fellow advocates not to appear for those who had killed the lawyers.

It also condemned the police for not making any arrests so far.
