IGNOU's regional centre building inaugurated

Education remains the single most important tool for empowerment of people and will invariably result in greater development of the nation, said A. Tamilarasi, Minister for Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, on Monday.

Inaugurating the newly constructed regional centre building of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) at Kovilpappakudi on Alanganallur Road near here, she said that IGNOU was a boon for the underprivileged and subaltern sections of society. This centre would help increase the entry of rural students into higher education, she hoped.

Ms. Tamilarasi praised the efforts of the Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi on education.
