Ganja seized, five arrested

Police seized 160 kg of ganja valued at Rs 15 lakh and arrested five persons who attempted to distribute it in Theni district near here today.

The contraband was being transported in a lorry in jute bags for distribution when a police team intercepted it on suspicion and checked it. Five persons were arrested while two other gang members are absconding, the police said.

The ganja had been brought from Andhra Pradesh and sufficient quantity had been distributed or sold at Tiruchirappalli, Manaparai and Dindigul before being brought to Allinagaram near here to be sold.
