District Collector M. Karunakaran has ordered the detention of a history-sheeter under the provisions of Goondas Act. As C. Maayandi (36) of Burkitmanagar under Tirunelveli Taluk police station limits was involved in several criminal cases including attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, illicit sand mining, he has been detained under the provisions of Goondas Act based on the recommendations from Inspector of Police, Tirunelveli Taluk police station P.K. Ravi, DSP, Thaazhaiyooththu, Rajaram and Superintendent of Police V. Vikraman. The orders on detaining the history-sheeter under the Goondas Act will be served shortly at Palayamkottai Central Prison where he has been lodged.
