DMK and Congress secure Bargur and Thondamuthur

The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Congress have captured Bargur and Thondamuthur constituencies, respectively. The Congress has also been declared the winner in Srivaikuntam.

In Bargur, the DMK nominee K.R.K. Narasimhan bagged 89,481 votes defeating his nearest rival V. Chandran of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) by a margin of 59,103 votes. Mr. Chandran got 30,378 votes.

In Thondamuthur, M.N. Kandasamy of the Congress defeated K. Thangavelu of the DMDK by a margin of 71,487 votes, while Mr. Kandasamy got 1,12,350 votes and Mr. Thangavelu secured 40,863 votes.

In Srivaikuntam, the Congress candidate M.B. Sudalaiyandi was declared the winner as he secured 53,827 votes. He defeated the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam’s nominee M.Soundarapandi by a margin of 31,359 votes. Mr. Soundarapandi got 22,468 votes.

In Cumbum, at the end of final round, the DMK’s candidate N. Ramakrishnan secured 81,515 votes, a margin of 57,373 votes over his immediate rival of the DMDK who got 24,142 votes.

In Ilayangudi, the ruling party, after nine rounds, was leading by 31,156 votes. The ruling party nominee got 45,695 votes.
