TIRUNELVELI: Police arrested a couple from Karaiyiruppu near here on Wednesday on usury charge.
The police said S. Subbu (31) of Karaiyiruppu under Thatchanallur police station limits had borrowed Rs. 10,000 from U. Ramu Ammal (60) of the same area two years ago and had been repaying the loan at the rate of Rs. 600 per month.
As Mr. Subbu failed to repay the loan for the past three months, Ramu Ammal’s son Gomathishankar (38) and his wife G. Ulagammal (32) assaulted him and posed a threat to him.

Based on the complaint from Mr. Subbu, the police arrested the couple, and are searching for Ramu Ammal.
