Claimants of lands at Kaverirajapuram in Tiruvallur district that have been linked to the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court P.D.Dinakaran have no right over the lands, it has been submitted before the Madras High Court.
In his common counter affidavit to appeals filed by claimants challenging a single Judge order, Tamil Nadu Revenue Secretary K.Dhanavel submitted that the claim of the appellants after 25 years appeared to be wilful and unreasonable. Hence, the writ appeals deserved to be dismissed as devoid of merits.
Earlier, in their writ petitions, J.Munirathnam and others of Kaverirajapuram had prayed for a direction to the official authorities to dispose of their representations of October last year to the Tahsildar and DRO by entering their names in the records as ‘pattadars' with respect to the lands in question. A single Judge dismissed the petitions in December last year. Against this are the present appeals.

The official said the single Judge had rightly taken into consideration various vital aspects and had correctly dismissed the writ petitions as no such remedy could be granted to the appellants as the matter had been seized of by the Supreme Court.
The counter said all the lands were ‘anadeenam' lands. The right of conferring title to these lands vested with the government as per a G.O. of Commercial Taxes and Religious Endowments Department of June 29, 1987. The appellants' representations had been addressed to the incompetent authority who did not have jurisdiction to consider the representations and hence the writ petitions had been rightly dismissed. A close scrutiny of all the relevant village accounts clearly established that the names of the appellants did not find place in the village records.
