Cattle transport: case against six

The police have registered cases against six persons for transporting 25 cattle in a lorry from Krishnagiri to Pollachi.

A social worker who spotted the vehicle near Salem city on Thursday informed the police. It was found that the lorry was carrying more animals than that was permitted. The police registered cases under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act against six persons including the lorry owner, driver, cleaner, and a broker. All the 25 animals have been shifted to the Kosalai in Taramangalam in the city, the police said.
