“Since Wakf Board properties worth several hundreds of crores of rupees were being swindled meticulously by some persons, the State and Central governments must dissolve the body and handover the power of governing the properties to the mosques concerned as being done in Christianity, president of Tamil Nadu Thouheedh Jamaath P. Zainul Abideen has said.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Mr. Abideen said that the properties donated by philanthropic Muslims for the wellbeing of their poor brethren were being administered by the Wakf Board. However, those properties, meant to be utilised to uplift the living conditions of the poor Muslims were being swindled. Properties belonging to Christians were being administered by the churches concerned without any intervention from the government.The Jamaath would stage demonstrations in front of Madras High Court Bench in Madurai and the principal court in Chennai on January 27 condemning the Allahabad High Court verdict in the 60-year-old Babri Masjid case “The entire Muslim community has been enraged by judgment delivered on the basis of religious faith and will not accept it. As the Allahabad High Court has failed to try this case based on evidences and available documents, the Supreme Court should suo motu take this case for hearing as early as possible so that it will assuage the feelings of Muslims.” The State Government that gave 3.50 per cent reservation to Muslims must also form a monitoring committee to ascertain whether the fruits of this privilege were reaching the beneficiaries.
