Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) launched 3G mobile services in Perambalur and Ariyalur towns on Monday.

Compared to 2G mobile services, the 3G (Third Generation) mobile services offer highly-powerful and more useful services such as video call, mobile broadband, mobile TV so on and so forth.

The customers can also browse the internet at the speed of broadband from the mobile phone. Mobile TV provides a range of television channels that can be watched on mobile phone from any place covered by 3G service. Mobile commerce allows the customer to buy train or air tickets, pay bills online and do shopping through internet, all from the 3G-enabled mobile phone.

Members of the public in the above towns can now obtain their new 3G pre-paid and post-paid connections by contacting the BSNL Customer Service Centre or the authorised franchisee or retailer.

“Even though 3G service is superior to 2G, the tariff for its usage is cheaper. Hence, it has been enjoying a good response from the customers,” observed V. Raju, Principal General Manager, BSNL, Tiruchi, who launched the 3G at the Telephone Exchange in Perambalur.

The existing 2G pre-paid and post-paid customers can also step up their connections to 3G. Further details can be had by dialing the toll-free number 1503, he added.
