3,855 km of rural roads to be developed

The State Cabinet approved development of 3,855.23 km of rural roads at an estimated cost of Rs. 2,676.57 crore.

The works would be taken up under the ‘Namma Grama Namma Rasthe’ programme, phase II, and would be executed through the Karnataka Rural Road Development Agency. A total of 20 km of roads would be developed in each Assembly constituency under the programme.

A Cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, cancelled the deed leasing out 347.12 acres at Hesaraghatta to the Karnataka Film Industries Development Corporation.

It decided to hand over the land to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.

Earlier, the land was allotted for developing a film city, sources in the Cabinet said.

The Cabinet approved filling 350 posts of veterinarians in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.

The Cabinet deferred carrying out social impact assessment study for Yettinahole integrated drinking water project and grant of sanction for prosecution of members of the Karnataka Public Service Commission.

It approved the revised estimate of civil works of integrated bio-centre at Tunga Horticultural Farm, Shivamoga district (Rs. 7.36 crore).

Cases withdrawn

The Cabinet withdrew cases registered against 200 people during the protest against the practice of ‘pankti bheda’ at Udupi Sri Krishna temple in 2012.
