Workers had told their family members that they were not given salary and were not allowed to move out of the premises.

Family members after returning to their native place lodged a complaint with officials in Chhattisgarh who in turn informed officials in Namakkal.

On Friday, a team led by Namakkal Revenue Divisional Officer K. Kalimuthu and officials from Chhattisgarh along with police personnel inspected the poultry unit and rescued the workers.
