As many as 250 persons received their appointment orders for the post of Junior Assistant from School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu here on Tuesday.
The School Education Department made the appointments on compassionate grounds to provide employment to family members of those employed in the department, who died while in service.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Thennarasu said, “The Chief Minister has been creating jobs across departments and recently, even announced the introduction of training programmes to make the youth more employable.”

On the appointments made, he said, earlier there was a ban on making appointments on compassionate grounds.
“It is the Chief Minister who lifted the ban and, thanks to him, today 250 persons are getting the order.”
Observing that each of the families affected by the death of someone in service would have a story of hard work and pain to tell, he said: “These appointments may have come late. But, better late, than never.”

Including the 250 who received their orders on Tuesday, a total of 699 persons have been appointed to the School Education Department on compassionate grounds.
