A youth was found murdered near the junction connecting Tank Bund Road and Shenoy Road in Nungambakkam in the early hours on Saturday.
According to sources, passers-by noticed the body and alerted the police at 12.40 a.m. The deceased has been identified as R. Ranjith, 18, of Choolaimedu, who was reportedly stabbed by unidentified persons.
The police suspect a love affair to be the motive behind the murder.

Ranjith was studying in Guindy and had reportedly left his home to attend the birthday celebrations of his nephew on Friday night. Just before midnight, he had told his mother over phone that he was coming on an EMU from the Beach railway station towards Nungambakkam.
The police interrogated his friends.
