1,360 bogus voter slips seized in Tuticorin

As many as 1,360 bogus voter slips were seized here on Thursday.

R. Antony Selvaraj (56), a resident of Krishnajapuram and an AIADMK cadre, was caught red handed while distributing the bogus voter slips to the voters in that area.

The slips were found without signature and seal of the Returning Officer of the constituency, R. Kumar, Deputy Tahsildar, Flying Squad, Tuticorin Assembly constituency, said on Friday.

The Flying Squad personnel including V. Abraham Cruz, Sub-Inspector of Police, verified the slips after recovering them.

Investigations revealed that 1,028 slips were printed for distribution to voters under part 53 and 332 slips under part 51. Based on a complaint lodged by Village Administrative Officer with the Tuticorin North Police, S. Jebaraj, proprietor of a printing press on VE Road, and Selvaraj were arrested.
