100 more State medical shops

A 100 more medical shops ( Amma Marundagam) will be opened under co-operatives to ensure that medicines are available at a reasonable price, said Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam.

In his budget speech, he said already 210 medical shops were functioning in the State, and Rs. 20 crore from the Price Stabilisation Fund would be utilised for opening new medical shops. He said the State government was ensuring food security for all through exemplary universal public distribution system (PDS), and the subsidy for 2014-15 had been increased to Rs. 5,300 crore.

Mr. Panneerselvam said as intra-State river linkage was a priority and that Rs. 119.98 crore had been allotted towards the project. The irrigation sector will get Rs. 3,669.79 crore.
