Supreme Court to examine Karti Chidambaram’s plea for permission to travel abroad

The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to examine a fresh petition from Karti Chidambaram for its permission to travel to the United Kingdom from January 10 to 20.

Mr. Karti Chidambaram is facing CBI investigation in a case of alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds to the tune of ₹305 crore in 2007 when his father P. Chidambaram was the Union Finance Minister.

The Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A.M.Khanwilkar and D.Y. Chandrachud is likely to hear the petition on Monday.

On November 20 , 2017, Mr. Karti Chidambaram was allowed to travel to the U.K. from December 1 to 10 for his daughter’s admission to Cambridge University.
