The medical board at Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), where Sunanda Pushkar, the late wife of the Union Minister, Shashi Tharoor, had been admitted for treatment earlier in the week, while refusing to divulge any medical details, said that she was not diagnosed with "any serious medical condition which might have caused her immediate death".
The Vice Chairman of KIMS and renowned Cardiologist, G. Vijayaraghavan, told media persons in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday that Sunanda Pushkar had been admitted to KIMS on January 12 afternoon for a "complete medical check -up" and that she had been discharged on January 14.
"She was cheerful and comfortable during her stay here. Mr. Tharoor was with her on all days and all medical details had been explained to both Mr. Tharoor and his wife. Except for a few pending investigations, almost all other test results had been out. She was expected to come back for a review next week," Dr. Vijayaraghavan said.

He said that the details of Sunanda Pushkar's medical condition cannot be given to the press as the hospital had to respect the patient's confidentiality.
On being asked whether Sunanda had left the hospital in an unwell condition, Dr. Vijayaraghavan said, " She walked out of the hospital after being discharged on Tuesday and later in the day went to the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple to participate in the ceremonies in connection with the "Lakshadeepam" festival there, where she sat on the floor along with others."
There had been unconfirmed reports quoting the personal staff of Mr. Tharoor that Sunanda had been so unwell as to use a wheelchair at the Thiruvananthapuram airport while travelling to Delhi on Wednesday morning.

Though media persons asked the medical board about Sunanda Pushkar's tweet that "so much had been diagnosed at KIMS", Dr. Vijayaraghavan said that it was not for the hospital to give out these details.
