BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had filed a private criminal complaint against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on alleged irregularities in the acquisition of National Herald newspaper.

The Enforcement Directorate on Friday received a complaint from BJP leader Subramanian Swamy seeking a probe into the National Herald issue.

Mr. Swamy handed over documents to the ED Director along with a recent Patiala House court order on his complaint alleging that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi had fraudulently acquired Associated Journal Limited assets and transferred it to another company, Young Indian.

Acting on the complaint, the court had asked the Gandhis to appear before it on August 7. The other directors of Young Indian -- Congress treasurer Motilal Vora, party general secretary Oscar Fernandes, former journalist Suman Dubey and technocrat Sam Pitroda – have also been summoned.
