In the eye of a storm over his Muslim sub-quota remarks and the subsequent face-off with the Election Commission, Union Law Minister Salman Khursheed today said the matter was a closed chapter now.

“This chapter is closed now,” Khursheed told reporters who sought his reaction on the row.

Mr. Khursheed, along with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit is here to attend an election meeting in support of his wife Louis Khursheed who is contesting the UP assembly election from Farukhabad.

Earlier in the day, the Election Commission said it was yet to take a decision on Mr. Khursheed’s letter regretting his remarks.

In a letter to the EC late last night, the Minister said he “bows to the wisdom of the EC” and has given his personal commitment to ensure that such a situation will not arise again.
