Soldier killed in ceasefire violation in Rajouri

One soldier was killed and another injured as Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire agreement in Jammu's Rajouri district on Friday evening.

A Jammu-based spokesman said the Pakistan army had initiated unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts in Sunderbani sector at around 6 pm. "The Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively," he said.

In the exchange of fire, according to the army, Rifleman Jayadrath Singh was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries. Another soldier reportedly suffered injuries.

Singh, 28, is a resident of tehsil Deoband, District Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
