A day after the four low intensity blasts in Pune, six people were detained on Thursday evening. A joint team of the Pune Crime Branch and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) started investigation on Wednesday evening.
The six detained included injured Dayanand Patil (33), a tailor from Uruli Kanchan village near Pune, the police said. However, they refused to divulge any details about those detained. Patil’s wife Satyakala was also quizzed.
The owner of the cycle shop and one of his employees from where three cycles used in the explosions were bought were also questioned.

“Three people purchased the cycles. The teams are now in the process of making sketches,” Pune Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Singhal said.
Bicycles used at 2 sites
Informed sources said the buyers specifically asked for bicycles with front baskets. In the four explosions that went off between 7.25 p.m. and 8.30 p.m., the cycles were used at two sites.

Mr. Singhal said the evidence collected was sent to the Forensic Sciences Laboratory.
Sources in the police said ammonium nitrate was used in the blasts, which were set off using a digital timer in a wrist watch.
Police Commissioner Gulabrao Pol had termed the blasts an act of “mischief”. However, the Home Ministry refused to rule out the terror angle.
