Sharif gifts a sari to Modi’s mother

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has sent a sari for the mother of his Indian counterpart, who had gifted a shawl to the Pakistani leader’s mother.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Modi on Thursday thanked Mr. Sharif for the gift, which he said, he will soon send to his mother.

ji has sent a wonderful white Sari for my Mother. I am really grateful to him & will send it to my Mother very soon,” Mr. Modi tweeted.

This is not the first time Mr. Modi has spoken about Mr. Sharif on his Twitter handle.

Immediately after being sworn-in on May 26, Mr. Modi took to Twitter to let others know about his informal conversation with his Pakistani counterpart. As per the tweets at that time, the two had “emotional” conversations.

Mr. Sharif, Mr. Modi tweeted, was touched by visuals of his mother offering him sweets.

“The visuals touched both Nawaz Sharif ji and his mother. He (Mr. Sharif) told me after seeing the visuals, his mother got very emotional,” Mr. Modi tweeted.

Mr. Sharif, according to Mr. Modi’s tweets, visits his mother once a week.

Mr. Modi had sent a shawl for Mr. Sharif’s mother after which the daughter of the Pakistani leader — Maryam Nawaz Sharif — tweeted, “Thank u v much PM @narendramodi for the beautiful shawl for my grandmother. My father personally delivered it to her.”
