BJP President Amit Shah addresses a function to launch the ‘Gujarat Gaurav Yatra’ for the forthcoming Assembly polls, in Anand.

BJP president Amit Shah on Monday said Gujarat Assembly polls would be held in the first week of December. He was flagging off the second leg of BJP’s Gujarat Gaurav Yatra from Porbandar, Mahatma Gandhi’s birth place, on his birth anniversary.

Mr. Shah attacked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for questioning the Gujarat model of development.

“The Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi are mocking the Gujarat model. They can’t see development here because Rahul is wearing a pair of Italian glasses,” Mr. Shah said, adding, “Instead of questioning the Gujarat model, the opposition party should answer why its three generations meted out injustice to Gujarat.”

He said Congress leaders were “daydreaming” of coming to power in Gujarat.

Exhorting people to vote for the BJP, Mr. Shah said the BJP would provide continuity in development because the party was in power at both State and Centre.
