‘Scheme for minorities a non-starter’

July 19, 2019 10:23 pm | Updated 10:23 pm IST - New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 15-point programme for minorities is a complete “non-starter”, said Samajwadi Party MP Javed Ali Khan on Friday in the Rajya Sabha.

Mr. Khan said the monitoring committees that had been set up from the district to Centre level had not met in the last five years. “When I entered Rajya Sabha in 2014 I got a letter from the Minority Ministry appointing me as a member of the monitoring committee for my district. I have not been invited even once in these years for the meeting,” he said during the zero hour and demanded that the programme be scrapped.
