RJD-JD(U) combine a coalition of desperation, says BJP

June 09, 2015 03:02 am | Updated April 03, 2016 02:40 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The BJP on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Janata Dal (United) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance for the upcoming Bihar elections, calling it a “coalition of desperation.”

Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said: “It is an alliance of desperation. Bihar is heading for a change and the BJP is an option. The party will decide if we will project a CM candidate or not. We aren’t governed by what Lalu and Nitish are doing.”

The party is already in talks with its coalition partners, the Lok Janshakti Party and the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party, for the sharing of seats. Among those involved in the talks are Bhupinder Yadav, the State in-charge; Bihar leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi; and Nand Kishore Yadav, Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly.

The BJP will go to the polls in Bihar on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proven track record of good governance and development, said party’s national secretary Shrikant Sharma.

‘Recipe for defeat’

Describing the coming together of the JD(U) and the RJD as sheer opportunism, he said: “The same Nitish Kumar who had fought against the jungle raj of Lalu Prasad and broke the BJP-JD(U) alliance, has today joined up with jungle raj on the one hand and the corrupt Congress on the other which makes for a perfect recipe for defeat. Nitish Kumar, Lalu Prasad and Congress are symbols of bad governance,

“The fact that socialist parties are running to the Congress for cover is a clear indication that they have already accepted defeat. During their press conference to announce the candidature of Nitish Kumar as the chief ministerial candidate, they talked of sacrifices and gulping poison,” he added.
