Ram Kripal Yadav, who broke off ties with the Rashtriya Janata Dal claiming a clash of ideology with party chief Lalu Prasad, will join the BJP on Wednesday.

Mr. Yadav met BJP president Rajnath Singh and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad at the Delhi airport on Tuesday, giving ample indication that an announcement of the coming-together was in the offing.

There was, however, no word from either side on whether Mr. Yadav would join the BJP in Delhi or Patna.

Mr. Yadav, who was upset at the RJD chief for nominating his daughter Misa Bharti from Patliputra, is likely to be fielded as the BJP’s candidate in the seat.

But Mr. Yadav declined to say anything on his constituency, claiming the final decision would be taken in a few days. “I met Rajnathji, we had a good meeting. I will comment on the rest of the issues tomorrow.”
