The Election Commission has announced by-election to a Rajya Sabha seat from Meghalaya. The vacancy arose following the resignation of Thomas Sangma, who had term till April 12, 2014.
The poll notification will be issued on April 1 and the poll on April 18.
The last date for filing of nomination is April 8 and the scrutiny of the papers will be taken up the next day.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 11.
Polling will be held between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and counting of votes at 5 p.m.
